About Us

The Cindy Yang Dancing Society of Vancouver, Canada, is a Canadian registered Charity directed to advance Chinese cultural and artistic education by providing standardized courses, instructional seminars, and intercultural workshops of Chinese classical, ethnic, and folk dance in Canada.

The Society was established by Madam Cindy Yang in 1994. During her lifetime, Madam Yang was an active member of society, dedicating much of her time to supporting charitable causes in various means. Today, the Society carries on Madam Yang’s legacy in philanthropic endeavours through community performances and special programs that aim to foster the growth of Chinese dance and culture.

Cindy Yang Memorial Fund

In 2022, the Cindy Yang Dancing Society of Vancouver, Canada, established the “Cindy Yang Memorial Fund” in an effort to support individuals passionate about Chinese dance and culture to pursue further education, exchange studies abroad, and participate in professional competitions. The fund operates under the supervision of a committee composed of elected members of the Society who are students, instructors, and volunteer representatives.

Purpose

The fund embodies two main goals:
Scholarship — Award recipients of the Cindy Yang Excellence Award will receive an amount equivalent to one semester (3 months) of tuition.
Financial Assistance — Provision of funds will be granted to students to travel abroad for competitions or to further their education in dance.

Awards & Scholarships

The Society honours student individuals who exhibit exceptional dedication, effort, and achievement in dance through several different awards.

Outstanding Progress Award
The Outstanding Progress Award recognizes students who show remarkable growth and improvement in their execution of dance techniques and passion for performance.
Class of Excellence Award
The Class of Excellence Award acknowledges a class that shows significant improvement throughout the entire group, demonstrating active engagement in learning and mutual assistance among peers.
Cindy Yang Excellence Award
The Cindy Yang Excellence Award with scholarship is presented to students who demonstrate high standards of dedication, technical prowess, leadership and participation within the Society.
Inspirational Award
The Inspirational Award celebrates a student who exemplifies technical proficiency but also exceptional qualities, dedication, and positive impact that inspire peers, instructors, and the broader members of the Society.
